Jack Owens (They/He) received their BFA in Painting from IU Bloomington (2023). They are currently still based in Indiana, pursuing multiple avenues of art including 2D concept art, illustration for prints/stickers, and most primarily a personal studio oil-painting practice. Active in their local art community, they have featured in multiple galleries and regularly vendor at local art markets.
A majority of Jack’s personal work explores their experiences with intersecting identities, memory, and limiting physical/social norms by populating their painting world with metamorphized fish/bug/human hybrids and other alter-egos using their own body and likeness. The imagery for these paintings are often dug up from both early and recent memories, creating inside jokes about their own life by exaggerating them to the absurd.
